Hyacinth, Catering Team, Shaftesbury Nash College

It takes a dedicated team of staff to ensure day-to-day operations run like clockwork.

As part of the catering team, Hyacinth is at the heart of Shaftesbury Nash College, preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals for students and staff.

“Cooking each day for the staff and students and seeing the delight and pleasure they experience from what I have prepared gives me much joy and satisfaction,” says Hyacinth.

One of the most important aspects of the role for Hyacinth is ensuring students' dietary needs are met. The catering team plan and devise menus for a diverse range of diets and nutritional needs, supporting students to make healthy and balanced food choices.

“Working at Nash College has been, and still is, a great experience,’ says Hyacinth who has more than 17 years’ service. “Over the years, the training after each college break has helped me to be a more effective and efficient worker.”

She attributes her long service and love for her job to the fact the close-knit staff team feels like a family and are all treated as equals.

“One of the greatest aspects of working at Nash College is the friendly environment. I have grown and built relationships with my peers. It is a joy and a delight to be part of such a dynamic organisation.”
