Safeguarding

At Shaftesbury Nash College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our priority. We are committed to working in partnership with families and external agencies to ensure students are safe, supported, and able to thrive during their time at college.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting vulnerable young people and adults from harm and making sure they feel safe, listened to and supported.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our staff receive regular training and follow clear guidance and protocols for reporting concerns.

Safeguarding for our students includes:

  • Physical and emotional safety
  • Respect, dignity and choice
  • Protection for learners under 18 and young people aged 18–25
Reporting

If you are worried about yourself or someone else, you can:

  • Speak to a member of staff you trust
  • Contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Contact a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

In an emergency, contact the police or local authority safeguarding team.
