Table cricket comes to Shaftesbury Nash College

Over the past six weeks, students at Shaftesbury Nash College have discovered the sport of table cricket.
Originally developed at Nottingham Trent University as part of the Project Adapted programme, the sport was designed to open up cricket to people who could not participate in traditional formats.
The game is played on a table tennis table. Side panels, sliding fielders and scoring zones are placed around the table.
Players bowl using a small ramp to release the ball, and the batter scores by hitting the ball into the scoring zones while trying to avoid the fielders.
Equipment can be adapted and the game simplified enabling all players to participate.
Each class has had a chance to try the sport this half term, with sessions led by Kent Cricket Foundation in partnership with Lord’s Taverners.
